Passionate, heartbreaking, and haunting, Ghost Quartet is an intimate show that explores love, betrayal, and the lasting impact of our stories after we're gone. Running Sept.13-22 at American River College, a talented quartet of actors brings this theatrical song cycle to life with dynamic movement, stunning vocal work, and live instrumentation.

Written by Dave Malloy (the creator of the Tony Award-winning Natasha, Pierre, & The Great Comet of 1812), Ghost Quartet is a nonlinear tale told by four storytellers, spanning several centuries. A camera breaks and four friends drink, in four interwoven narratives...: a warped fairy tale about two sisters; a treehouse astronomer and a lazy, evil bear; a retelling of Poe’s “The Fall of the House of Usher;” a purgatorial intermezzo about Scheherazade; and a contemporary fable about a subway murder.” (New York Theatre Workshop)  Ghost Quartet is for mature audience members age 16 years and up.

After a successful run at Valkyrie Theatre Company as part of their Director Mentorship Program, this cast of American River College Theatre students (led by student director/actor Brayden Plumb), brings Ghost Quartet to the college's Tech Lab Theatre—a 40-seat performance space—for a two weekend run. The other cast members, Anela Rei Tan, Hannah Hurst, and Nick Roten, also serve as musicians, vocal director, and music director, respectively. With Plumb at the helm, this multi-faceted quartet plays a diverse array of instruments including baritone and soprano saxophone, metallophone, autoharp, piano keyboard, djembe, and more... all while singing the show's complex, beautiful harmonies.

Recommended $2 parking is at the corner of College Oak and Myrtle, adjacent to the theatre.
