Home Professional Development Staff Resource Center

The Staff Resource Center coordinates and curates Professional Development (PD) opportunities that benefit all employees and colleagues. Opportunities we provide help the individual to learn and grow and revitalize their careers by engaging in PD that focuses on improving the experiences and outcomes of SCC students.

We offer PD around technology, universal design, accessibility, culturally-responsive teaching and learning, Open Educational Resources (OER), digital inclusion, basic needs/food scarcity, connection, intersectionality, collaboration, community, and more. Each PD opportunity receives a framing around the students we serve, in particular those students that are disproportionately impacted. "Disproportionate impact occurs when a subset of students based on student characteristics, such as age, race, and gender, are unjustifiably experiencing lower outcomes compared to the total student population” (California Community Colleges Chancellor’s Office (CCCCO), 2017).

By curating and coordinating PD opportunities for the SCC family, we will help close achievement gaps, move towards equity, empower our students and community and help actuate a cultural shift at SCC, the People's College!
