Los Rios uses Canvas as our Learning Management System (LMS).

Grades

When it comes time to submit midterm and final grades, you do that using Socrates.

We recommend using Canvas as a place to input student grades. This allows students to always know where they stand (if you update grades regularly). You may also use Los Rios Google Apps to securely store your grades (Google Sheets). Never use your personal Google account or another cloud-based service outside of the district's control.

Using Los Rios Google Drive to Manage Grades

You may keep student grades in your Los Rios Google Drive. Google has contracted with Los Rios to maintain the privacy of these accounts and comply with obligations under FERPA. Do not keep grades in a personal Google drive.

Email and Google Apps

You must use Outlook for e-mail but you can also log-in to Los Rios Google Apps to use Google Drive, Calendar, Sites, and more.

Student Gmail

SCC students use Los Rios Gmail for their student e-mail accounts. Some of your students may not be aware that they have an e-mail account.

Please remind all students at the beginning of the term to log-in weekly to their Los Rios Gmail. All of your communication with them via e-mail or Canvas will go to this account. Students may also set up a forwarding email address if they wish to use a different primary e-mail account.
