NameCoach is a tool that allows you to create an audio recording of your name to assist your instructors and classmates in pronouncing it correctly.
You may also provide your preferred pronoun. To use NameCoach, it must be enabled by your instructor. Encourage them to use it! To record your name in NameCoach, follow the instructions below.
- Click the NameCoach button in your course navigation menu. If you do not see this button, it may not be enabled, so discuss this with your instructor.
- Click the Record Name button.
- Enter any gender or honorific preferences.
- You are then given the choice of whether you want to record your name via phone or computer web recorder. If you select phone:
you will be asked to enter your phone number. Enter your number in the space provided.
- Within 10 seconds or so, you will receive a phone call at that number. Follow the instructions in the prompt to record your name.
- Once you hang up the phone, you have the option to play your recording back, and record again if you desire. Do so until you are satisfied with your recording. When you are satisfied, click Submit and Finish.
- If you choose to record your name via web recorder, select this preference:
- Then click the Record button.
- Hit the Stop Recording button shown below to stop the recording.
- You have the option to play your recording back, and record again if you desire. Do so until you are satisfied with your recording. When you are satisfied, click Submit and Finish.
Your instructor now has access to your proper name pronunciation!
