This workshop is for chairs and department faculty who will be working on course outlines this semester, in particular for departments going through program review.
The Equity Subcommittee piloted discussions and workshops in Spring 2021 that helped English and Communications add language to their course outlines that are explicitly oriented at improving the learning outcomes of the classroom.
After briefly reviewing our process last Spring, we will review the course outline revision process (guiding questions, deadlines, Socrates, curriculum feedback), examples of changes other departments have made to their course outlines (Chem, ESL, ENGWR, COMM), and present a list of resources that can help make this process as smooth as possible (SCC's articulation officer, links to articulation websites, our Equity Subcommittee).
We will end the workshop by asking departments to create their own calendar of "Course Outline Revisions," to which we hope members of the Equity subcommittee will be invited.
