Students of color enter college with equal interest in STEM; yet they leave at significantly higher rates than their white peers. It is well established in the literature that poor performance in introductory science courses cause students to switch majors or leave college.
Culturally relevant pedagogies are shown to be highly effective in improving student performance, especially in STEM courses. In this ongoing institute, we will work collaboratively to redesign our science or science-related courses to be culturally responsive.
In this workshop, we will introduce you to the framework that we plan to use to redesign our courses.
