This interactive session will explore the equity implications of digital tools used to prevent cheating and build community in an online class. At what point is our insistence on monitoring and “seeing” our students harming rather than helping? How can we make pedagogical shifts and redesign our assessment practices to respect the “human-ness" of our students–their needs, their learning, their whole selves–during a semester of unprecedented hardship and disruption?
