Equity Pathways Professional Development for Adjunct Faculty
Equity Pathways (EP) offers equity-centered professional development to adjunct faculty and adjunct counseling faculty on culturally responsive pedagogy, and evidence-based practices to support overall course success rates for disproportionately impacted (DI) students.
Goals
The Equity Pathways Program has the following major goals:
- Increase adjunct faculty participation in equity-focused professional development.
- Increase overall course success rates for disproportionately impacted students in classes taught by EP participants.
- Increase faculty professional confidence and competency in the use of equity data to inform decision-making in instructional practice.
- Provide faculty opportunities to learn and apply discipline-specific and discipline-adjacent equity-focused pedagogical techniques in their course.
- Provide faculty opportunities to establish collegial connections, support networks, and communities of practice within and across disciplines.
- Provide coaching and support to faculty in reviewing individual course success metrics of disproportionately impacted students, and developing action plans to incorporate new pedagogical approaches to address gaps in student outcomes.
Cohorts
Beginning summer 2024, EP cohorts will participate in weekly, live, two-hour virtual workshops, and also complete activities online between workshops that deepen their understanding and application of culturally responsive and data-informed instructional strategies.

Frequently Asked Questions
Equity Pathways is an 9-week cohort professional development opportunity, with a $1500 stipend, specifically for SCC adjunct faculty and adjunct counseling faculty. Adjunct faculty are a significant portion of SCC faculty, and are critical partners in meeting our equity and student success goals.
